Former House Speaker Scheduled to Appear in Front of Judge Following an Indictment
Former U.S. House Speaker Dennis Hastert will go in front of a judge this week following an indictment that says he agreed to pay someone $3.5 million in hush money.
A judge’s office says the Illinois republican is scheduled to appear Thursday in U.S. District Court in Chicago.
73-year-old Hastert was indicted last week on one count of evading bank regulations by withdrawing nearly a million dollars in increments of less than $10,000 at a time.
He’s also charged with lying to the FBI.
The indictment doesn’t say what hastert was reportedly trying to hide– or who he intended to give the money to.
