Local Law Enforcement Agencies Warn People Not to Fall For Phone Scam

Two area law enforcement agencies are warning people not to fall for a scam.

The Mecosta County sheriff’s department and Big Rapids police want people to know that there’s a phone scam circulating.

They say someone is pretending to represent one of the agencies.

They’re claiming that residents owe taxes and will be sought for arrest if they don’t pay.

If you receive a call like this, police say to not give any personal information and hang up.
