Hundreds of Job Openings at Local Prison

Hundreds of jobs are up for grabs as a lake county prison gets some good news today.

The facility is now even closer to reopening.

There was already confirmation of 600 coming from Vermont.

Now, the GEO North Lakes Correctional facility got news that Washington state could send up to 1-thousand more inmates to the prison near Baldwin in Lake County.

Right now, they’re interviewing correctional officers to look after those inmates.

Michigan Works! says 125 people have gotten employment offers from the prison.

There are a wide variety of jobs available — from administration to maintenance to management.

Correctional officers are in high demand.

The prison is even having potential employees try on GEO uniforms at the local Michigan Works! office.

“It’s super exciting to have this opportunity come in for Baldwin,” said Michigan Works! Business Services worker Michigan Rasmussen. “It’s been up down up down for the last couple years and it’s great that they have two contracts now.”
