Northern Michigan Based Oil Company Ends Drilling Operations Downstate

An update this morning.

A Northern Michigan-based oil company is ending its drilling operations at a downstate facility.

The West Bay Exploration Well in Macomb County’s Shelby Township is about 500 feet from homes.

The company shut it down last year after people in the area voiced concerns over the location.

Operations resumed last Monday — but the energy company says the oil well failed to produce as hoped and it’s ending the project.

Now, the site will be restored.
