Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe to Rebury Remains of 40 Native Americans

The Saginaw Chippewa Indian tribe will repatriate and rebury remains of more than 40 Native Americans.

The tribe and it’s Ziibiwing Cultural Society will get the remains from the American Museum of Natural History in New York, the Toledo Zoological Society and the Dearborn Historical Museum next week.

The reburial will take place next Friday at the Nibokaan Cemetery on the tribe’s Isabella Indian Reservation in Mount Pleasant.

It’s made possible by the 1990 Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act.
