Crawford County Hosts Memorial Service for Fallen Police Officers
Fallen Michigan police officers are being remembered throughout Northern Michigan this week.
Friday, Crawford County held their own memorial service.
Law enforcement, Camp Grayling officials and other emergency management crews remembered those who lost their lives in the line of duty.
The memorial service for the fallen officers was held Friday in Grayling.
Crawford County sheriff says the county has been coming together to remember fallen officers for at least 20 years.
He says officers should always be respected for protecting and serving.
Especially those that give the ultimate sacrifice.
“My heart goes out to all the families, relatives, everybody, all the officers that have lost their lives over the years and will continue to do so in the line of duty,” said Crawford County Sheriff Kirk Wakefield. “Because that’s what they want to do, protect and serve.”
The sheriff says almost 100 Michigan police officers lost their lives last year.
