Bicyclist Injured in Traverse City Hit-And-Run

Police are looking for the person who rear-ended a bicyclist Thursday night in Traverse City.

The man was hurt, but did not have non-life threatening injuries.

The hit and run happened near the intersection of M-72 and M-22 in Traverse City.

Police say the bicycle and car were both heading south when the car hit the bike from behind.

The cyclist got a cut to his head as a result of the crash.

He was treated at the scene.

Police say accident involving bikes and cars are common this time of year.

“Bikes and cars have to share the road,” said Captain Jeff O’Brien, Traverse City Police Department. “We don’t know how this happened. We definitely want to talk to that person. If it was an accident, we want them to come forward and give us their side of the story.”

The driver’s car is a black, two door, compact car.

Police believe the passenger-side mirror is damaged.

Anyone with information about the hit-and-run or suspected vehicle is asked to call the Detective Bureau at (231) 995-5152.
