Oklahoma Man Killed By Tulsa County Volunteer Deputy Ruled Homicide

An Oklahoma medical examiner ruling the death of a man killed by a Tulsa County volunteer deputy as a homicide.

The autopsy report was released Tuesday.

It shows 44-year-old Eric Harris had collapsed lungs and internal bleeding after reserve deputy Robert Bates shot him.

The cause of death was a gunshot under his right arm.

The report also shows Harris had methamphetamine in his system when he died.

Bates says he accidentally shot Harris with a handgun after confusing it for a stun gun.

He has pleaded not guilty to a charge of second degree manslaughter.
