Baltimore’s Mayor Requests Police Department Investigation

Baltimore’s mayor is asking federal investigators to look into the city’s police department.

Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake says the community has a broken relationship with police.

She wants to know whether the department uses a pattern of excessive force or discriminatory policing.

The request came the day after a visit from Attorney General Loretta Lynch.

Baltimore saw days of riots and protests after Freddie Gray died from injuries he received while in police custody.

The investigation is similar to one done in Ferguson, Missouri.
