Marine General Joseph Dunford Chosen as Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman
U.S. leaders say President Obama will nominate Marine General Joseph Dunford Junior as the next Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
They say he is a widely respected commander who led the Afghanistan war coalition between 2013 and 2014.
The promotion cuts short Dunford’s service as the Commandant of the U.S. Marine Corps, which he began last October.
General Dunford has moved from a one star general to four stars in about three years, which is evidence of his fast paced military career.
