Washington Teacher Being Called Hero After School Shooting
A teacher in Washington state is being called a hero this morning after he tackled a student who opened fire inside a school just outside of Seattle.
Classes were about to start at North Thurston High School when the 16-year-old fired one shot at the ground and another in the air.
While students ran, a teacher risked his life and tackled the gunman.
The teacher has taught at the school for almost a decade.
Three other staff members helped hold the gunman down until police came.
“I think it’s absolutely very heroic of him very brave of him and I’m definitely glad he was working today,” said Jim Mack, Lacey Police Department.
No one was injured in the shooting and the 16-year-old gunman says he never meant to hurt anyone.
The student had recently transferred to that school and will appear in court today.
