Boyne City Welcomes Senior Housing Development

People in Boyne City today celebrating new, affordable senior housing.

Northern Homes Community Development Corporation got the ball rolling today to renovate a building.

A groundbreaking ceremony let people know the plans and future housing opportunities in Boyne

This building is the William H. White building, named after a businessman who helped develop Boyne City.

It was White’s home in the 1900’s.

The hope is to bring a nicer looking building to the area – where seniors can live close to town.

“This building is going to be renovated into apartments for seniors age 55 and older they will be rented at an affordable rate so lower income seniors can rent in downtown Boyne City,” said Jane MacKenzie.

They were able to make this happen with help from the city, who secured grants for the home.
