FSU Hosts The 10th Annual Special Olympics Benefit Game

Special Olympic athletes got to compete in the game of a lifetime tonight.

They played basketball with Ferris State University players on their home court.

Tuesday’s game marked the tenth annual Special Olympics Benefit Game at FSU’s Wink Arena.

It’s put on by the university’s sports careers organization and raises money for Special Olympic athletes in Mecosta County.

They try to give the athletes the real experience of competing in a collegiate basketball game.

The arena was filled with energy and cheering from the 500 people who came out to show their support.

To the athletes, it’s something special they look forward to every year.

“They’ve been very supportive they’ve been doing it every year and come out every single year to cheer us on and it means a lot for the Special Olympics, it’s a dream come true.”

The organization hoped to raise at least $1,000 in donations from Tuesday’s crowd.
