93-Year-Old Former Auschwitz Guard in Court
A former guard at the Auschwitz concentration camp arrived in a German court Tuesday.
Ninety-three-year-old Oskar Groening is accused of 300,000 counts of accessory to murder.
Groening doesn’t deny working as a guard but does say he did not commit any crimes.
Tuesday’s trial is the first to test a new line of German legal reasoning that started a wave of investigations of Nazi war crime suspects.
There are 11 open investigations against former guards.
Charges have been filed in three of those cases.
