National Basketball Camp coming to Traverse City

Dave Devenzio’s National Point Guard Camp is not only making a rare appearance in Michigan, the camp is coming to Traverse City.  There will be a pair of sessions at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Middle School April 24-26.

It’s open to boys and girls in grades 6-12 and it’s not just for point guards but local organizer Jim Anderson says it focuses more on the intellectual side of basketball.

“Kids today don’t think the game, it’s run, gun, fire it up,” Anderson said.  “Everybody thinks they can shoot the three and they can’t, but yet they think they have the right to.  When you get good teams, they know what they can do, take your positives and that’s what you’re going to provide for your basketball team.  Devenzio in his books really gets kids to think the game.”
