TC Police Chief Set To Retire

A long-time Northern Michigan police chief will retire in June.

Mike Warren has been with the Traverse City Police Department for more than 40 years.

He has been police chief for more than 12 years.

Warren says he is looking forward to spending more time with his family, but he says he will probably continue to work doing something outdoors.

“It’s been a great career and it’s been a lot of fun,” said Chief Warren. “I worked in every position on this department and there’s not any one that I enjoyed more than the other.”

Warren’s last day will be June 27th.

The acting city manager is preparing to hire an interim city police chief.

A new police chief will be chosen once a new city manager is hired.
