TC Central Takes State Robotics Championship

A big win over the weekend for a local high school robotics team.

Traverse City Central High School’s robotics program beat out nearly 350 other teams–grabbing the title of state champion.

The Raptors competed for the first high school robotics title in Grand Rapids.

The team of 35 students worked together to successfully build a robot that stacked its way to victory–by piling up the most storage bins.

The coach tells us the major accomplishment wasn’t easily won–and team members say they couldn’t be happier with their new title.

“We never expected to go onto states and even more,” said RJ Fenton, the team’s communication leader. “Winning was the most fantastic thing that I think our team has ever accomplished and it’s not just a few of us who accomplished it, it’s like it’s our whole family.”

The team now moves on to St. Louis for the world championships.
