Detroit Police Chief Speaks Out About Indicted Officers

The city of Detroit’s police chief is speaking out about accusations against two of his officers indicted Thursday.

Lieutenant David Hansberry and Officer Bryan Watson are accused of robbing drug dealers.

Police say the two set up the deals so they could rob and extort the sellers.

They’re also accused of fake arrests in which they stole drugs, money and personal property from the victims.

Police Chief James Craig says the actions of the two officers don’t reflect the department as a whole.

Hansberry is a 16-year veteran.

Watson has been with the force for 22 years.

Bother have been on suspension since last October.
