City of Evart Renovating its Downtown
One downtown in Osceola County is getting an extreme makeover.
Evart’s Downtown Development Authority received a Downtown Infrastructure Grant from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation to develop its downtown. The grant is worth more than $700,000.
The city is using the money to refurbish its downtown. It will add bump out gardens along the sidewalks on Main Street. There will be a gazebo to a park and some bathrooms downtown.
In a couple days they’ll start working on the sidewalks.
Al Weinberg, director of Evart’s Downtown Development Authority, said, “We kind of feel that this will be helping transform Main Street into a park atmosphere, so it will be safer for pedestrians as far as walking.”
Evart’s downtown grand re-opening will be at the end of June.
