Car Crash Kills One, Sends Seven More to Hospital
A Virginia man is dead after an early morning car crash in Isabella County.
It happened Friday around 1:47 a.m. at the intersection of S. Summerton and E. Broadway.
A southbound vehicle driven by a 31-year-old Virginia man failed to stop at a flashing red light and went into the path of an eastbound taxi van.
The taxi van crashed into the passenger door of the southbound vehicle.
A passenger in the southbound vehicle, a 26-year-old man from Virginia, died at the scene. The driver was transported to an area hospital.
The 28-year-old taxi driver and five passengers were also transported to McLaren Central Michigan for treatment of varying degrees of injuries. None of the taxi passengers were wearing seat belts.
The taxi was transporting the passengers to the Soaring Eagle Casino at the time of the crash.
Alcohol in not believed to be a factor in the crash.
The crash is still under investigation.
