Hook and Hunting: Trout Planting

A Northern Michigan fishing organization is helping to bring brown trout back to the area by dropping thousands of brown trout in one Northern Michigan lake.

On Thursday, almost 60,000 brown trout were put into the West Bay in Grand Traverse County.

The purpose of the drop is to add more of the trout to Northern Michigan waters.

That’s needed because volunteers say the population is low.

“We just feel like it’s important to help our fishery along to whoever extent to enhance the opportunity for fishermen and keep it going.”

on Monday, another 50,000 brown trout were dropped in the Grand Traverse Bay

Now, more than 100,000 brown trout inhabit the bay.
