Feedback at 5:00: Should TSA Agents Be Armed?

The recent attack on a Transportation Security Administration agent at the New Orleans airport is sparking an interesting debate.

Last Friday, police say a man attacked agents with wasp spray and a machete.

Just minutes later – a nearby lieutenant shot the suspect who died a few days later from his injuries.

Right now, TSA agents do not carry guns and do not have authority to arrest someone that breaks the law.

But some say this needs to change.

Arguing attacks like these are exactly why agents should be armed.

But the TSA’s administrator, John S. Pistole, says guns are not the answer.

Instead he calls for a greater law enforcement presence at airports.

Do you think TSA agents should be armed?

Why or why not?
