LSSU & Ferris prepare for NCAA Tournament meeting

The fourth meeting this season will be the most important.  Ferris State and Lake Superior State qualified for the NCAA Division II Men’s Basketball Tournament and will face each other in the first round.

Their Midwest Regional opener is set for Saturday at 8:30pm in Louisville, Kentucky.

“I’m sure it’s going to be a heck of a dog-fight in Louisville on a neutral site,” Lake Superior State Head Coach Steve Hettinga said. “Both teams know each other well and we’ll obviously get the chance to watch the film this week and try to make some corrections from our game as will they.”

Lake Superior State swept Ferris last season and took both regular season matchups against the Bulldogs this season en route to a second straight GLIAC regular season title.

However, Ferris State beat Lake Superior State in the GLIAC Tournament Championship Game Sunday in order to clinch an automatic berth into the Midwest Regional.

“As a competitor you want to play the best,” Ferris State Head Coach Andy Bronkema said.  “Lake Superior is the best, this next game is going to take on a mind of its own, and its going to be its own legend.  And the winner will be very deserving.”
