Bulldogs and Lakers Advance to GLIAC Championship

SAULT STE MARIE – A regular season battle will meet one last time, as Ferris State and Lake Superior State advance to the GLIAC Championship game Sunday at 2 p.m.

Earlier Saturday, LSSU topped Saginaw Valley 70-56, a team the Lakers fell to twice during the regular season.

Tony Harris led Lake State with 14 points, six rebounds and three assists, helping his team play in its second GLIAC title game in three seasons. The last time LSSU won it all was back in 1996, when the Lakers beat Oakland 106-102.

Later in the afternoon, Ferris State scored quickly and often, leading by as many as 17 points, en route to its 81-65 victory over Walsh.

During the regular season, LSSU snapped FSU’s 16-game win streak with a 69-67 win in Big Rapids. In the Bulldogs and Lakers second meeting, Lake State won 67-45 to sweep the season series, giving Ferris State even more to play for in tomorrow’s league title game.
