Washington Leaders Debate Over Department of Homeland Security Funding

The drama continues as leaders in Washington debate a bill that will directly dictate funding to the Department of Homeland Security.

Congress has until Friday to prevent the department from shutting down.

Republicans have tried to pass a bill to approve a budget which also includes provisions that would repeal President Obama’s immigration plan.

Monday, Democrats denied that measure and argue the issues should be made into two separate votes.

It is possible for a short-term extension of Homeland Security funding to be approved, but that still requires another vote by Congress.
