Rewards Card Program Leads Police to Credit Card Theft Suspect
A woman who stole a wallet got caught when police say she used a stolen credit card — but her own rewards card — to buy items at a grocery store.
The wallet was swiped from a purse at Tom’s in East Bay Township earlier this week.
Police say since then, the thief withdrew $300 from the victim’s checking account and made $500 in purchases.
That includes a stop at Family Fare where the thief paid with the stolen card, but used her own rewards card — revealing her identity.
Police have identified their suspect, but not yet arrested her.
