Two Mt. Pleasant Women Arrested for Having Drugs, Concealed Weapons

Police pulled over a car for having tinted windows — and it ended up leading to three drug arrests and more.

Mt. Pleasant police pulled the car over near Ashland and Pickard around 11:00 p.m. Wednesday night.

When they searched the car, they found needles, drug pipes, packaged heroin and another white substance.

Police say the driver, Kristy Posthumus, was driving on a suspended license and without insurance. She was arrested on those charges — plus for planning to sell heroin.

The passenger, Audrey Shipman, was arrested of having a concealed weapon. Police say Shipman had two knives, mace, and a large baton — she claimed were for her protection.

Jeff Browne, a public information officer with the Mt. Pleasant Police Department, said, “There was 12 bindles of a white powdery substance we’re unsure, and then there was 13 bindles of actual heroin that was field tested positive.”

The unknown substance was sent to the Michigan State Crime Lab for analysis.

The police expect to know what it is in six to eight weeks.
