Missaukee County Woman Sentenced for Smuggling Contraband into Jail

A woman who tried to sneak drugs into a Northern Michigan jail using her body is now facing time behind bars.

Roxie Riley was arrested in September for smuggling alprazolam pills into the Missaukee County Jail. She pleaded guilty to the crime in January.

Riley will spend 120 days in jail with a credit of 58 days already served, along with two years of probation.

The Missaukee County Sheriff’s Department says jail staff found the drug while processing Riley — along with a lighter and a knife in her bra. Charges for having the knife and lighter have since been dropped.
