Library Receives $7,500 USDA Grant

A local library received a big award from the USDA tonight — a $7,500 grant.

The check was presented to the Reed City Area District Library in Osceola County tonight.

The money is purchasing much needed equipment including computer monitors, book scanners and furniture.

The library says this equipment is necessary for them to keep up with the latest in education.

“We need to keep up with the current teachings and the global economy and it’s important for Reed City area students and citizens to be globally competitive,” said Christine Cox, library board president.

The library hopes to move into a newly renovated building by 2016.

This equipment is their first big purchase.
