UPDATE: Five People in Critical Condition Following Amish Buggy Accident

One horse is dead and five people are in the hospital with serious injuries after a suspected drunk driver rear ended their buggy Sunday night.

The Amish buggy was hit around 7:30 Sunday night on Bailey Lake Road near Cedar Street in Clare County’s Arthur Township.

Police say the dense fog and alcohol were factors in the crash.

When the car hit the buggy, the buggy smashed into pieces, endangering the nine people inside.

Two parents and three of their children were taken to the hospital where all are stable, but in critical condition.

No charges have been made to the driver of the car as the investigation continues.
