Mercy Hospitals Become Munson Healthcare Facilities
Two Northern Michigan hospitals now have new names — as they officially join a large Northern Michigan health care system.
Two weeks ago, Munson announced a final agreement between their organization and CHE Trinity Health to purchase hospitals in Cadillac and Grayling, plus some other Mercy-owned health care facilities.
Cadillac Mercy Hospital will be Munson Healthcare Cadillac Hospital. And Mercy Hospital Grayling will be called Munson Healthcare Grayling Hospital.
Mercy Home Care and Hospice Northern Michigan have also have been renamed as Munson Home Health.
The name changes go in to effect on February 1, the same date the acquisition will become official.
Mary Neff, the C.E.O./C.O.O./ Chief Nursing Officer of Cadillac Mercy Hospital, says for patients the transition should be seem less and that they will continue services as they have in the past.
Neff says they hope the acquisition will also help bring physicians from Munson in Traverse City to other Mercy locations.
However, the merger will cause the Mercy locations to lose their Catholic affiliation.
9&10’s Breelynn Martin and Photojournalist Jeff Blakeman spoke to Mercy Hospital Cadillac about the change.
