NMC Hosts Manufacturing Day for Traverse City High School Students

Eight local manufacturers opened their doors to high school students for the first Traverse City Manufacturing Day.

Northwestern Michigan College held the event today at the Parsons-Stulen building.

Manufacturing day is an annual National event, for students to see career opportunities in manufacturing technologies.

Students toured three manufactures in the industrial park and some of the training opportunities at NMC, like their welding, electronics and machining lab.

“Dialog to kids has been you have to go to a four-year degree program and that is a way to get ahead in life, it’s not the only way and not everyone can or wants to go that route so this is another way where you can quickly get into a good career,” said Kennith Scott, Training Service Specialist for NMC.

NMC is considering another manufacturing day in the Spring.
