Manistee County Library Will Now Charge Non-Residents
A library in Northern Michigan is enacting a new policy, making it so out-of-towners have to pay to use its services.
Due to financial difficulty, and a surplus of non-resident customers, the Manistee County Library added a fee for family memberships.
Cards for people out of the area will now cost $45 for a year-long membership.
The price was determined based on a county library millage divided by the overall population.
The non-resident library cards can be used by the entire family, so individual cards don’t have to be purchased.
