Lions legend helps Elk Rapids baseball

ELK RAPIDS – Herman Moore has caught more passes than any player in Detroit Lions history.

Thursday in Elk Rapids, Moore was doing the throwing and the Elks baseball program received all the benefits.

Moore threw out the ceremonial first pitch for the “Futures Game.”  It was an intra-squad exhibition to help raise money for the Elk Rapids high school baseball field.

Their original goal was raise $2,000.  However, they have far surpassed that.

Moore will also start a new job providing in-game analysis for Detroit Lions preseason games this season.

“To be a part of their broadcast team is something that I’m very excited about because I get to be around the team a lot and I get to talk to the coach and I get to talk to the players and communicate to the fans what you are able to see that they don’t have access and privilege to,” Moore said.  “It means a lot and goes a long way.”

You can see his debut in the booth on FOX 32 Saturday night when the Lions host the Browns for their preseason opener.  The game is set to kick off a little after 7:30pm.
