Petoskey City Council Approves Sunset Square Grant

The Petoskey City Council unanimously passed a grant Monday for the Sunset Square feasibility study.

The study would determine if a hotel and conference center would be financially stable for the developmental property,  previously known as Petoskey Pointe.

The total project amount is around $25,000, with the grant request of $12,500.

The rest will be funded by owner, Elias Amash.

He hopes this grant will cover a portion of the costs to perform the study.

“A few different consultants that are being considered. One will be chosen, and they will as quickly as possible undertake the study to determine what will work on that site,” said Tom Erhart, Northern Lakes Economics Alliance Rep.

The grant can now be submitted to the state of Michigan approval by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, before the feasibility study can move forward.
