Caregiver Accused of Embezzling from Victims in Cadillac
A Grayling woman is accused of embezzling money from three people she cared for.
Debra Calkins is accused of embezzling between $900 and $1,900 from those people over the last year.
Police say she acted as their guardian or conservator. All the victims are from Cadillac.
Calkins is charged with embezzling from a vulnerable adult, and perjury for lying on signed paperwork about the money.
The discrepancies were found when the victims’ accounts were assessed at the end of the year.
