Police, Prosecutor Talk About Driving Under the Influence of Marijuana

Driving drunk is against the law, but how is driving under the influence of marijuana viewed in the eyes of the law.

Police say using marijuana and driving is a concern and they want drivers to know what is not acceptable.

According to police, the effects from the drugs can lead to deadly crashes, just like last November’s involving Joshua Abraham.

Abraham is accused of causing a deadly crash near Cadillac while under the influence of marijuana.  Heidi Wright died in the crash. He faces several charges including driving under the influence of a controlled substance causing death.

The Wexford County Prosecutor also wants drivers to know they consider marijuana and driving no less hazardous than drunk driving.
