International Dark Sky Park Asks Northern Michigan to Turn Lights Out Tonight
The International Dark Sky Park is asking for lights out, Northern Michigan.
It will be a competition among those in the area to see who can be the darkest — and is a way to spread awareness of light pollution.
Not to mention, it gives everyone the rare opportunity to see Northern Michigan’s night sky clearly.
Tonight the park is asking Emmet County along with mackinaw city and St. Ignace — to turn down, or dim their lights between 10:30 pm and 11:30 pm.
Tonight is supposed to be a bit cloudy — but they hope if enough businesses and people participate — it will be a great night to view the meteor shower.
