Corn Farmers Need More Heat For High Quality Crop
After already starting late due to the cold and rain, farmers needed a hot summer to catch up, so far they have gotten the exact opposite of that.
This year, most farms are a week or two behind schedule with only a couple months left in the season.
The lost time can be made up and still equal a good crop but they need a very hot August.
If not, the corn will still be there but it just won’t be of a high quality.
9&10’s Eric Lloyd and photojournalist Melvin Kimbrough checked the progress of the corn this year and have more details.
