Severe Michigan Weather, Destruction & Power Outages

Northern Michigan isn’t the only part of the state seeing storms.

Storms that hit the Lower Peninsula packed winds up to 50 mph that knocked down trees, ripped off roofs, and blacked out more than 200,000 homes and businesses, Sunday.

The National Weather Service says a trained spotter reported 1.75-inch hail hit Oakland County’s White Lake Township, while Macomb County saw 50 mph winds.

As of late Sunday, DTE Energy had about 180,000 customers without power, and Consumers Energy reported about 26,000.
