MI State Canvassers Discuss Minimum Wage, Wolves

State canvassers took on two very different, and two very controversial topics today Michigan’s minimum wage, and wolves.

The board decides what can be allowed on the ballot for voters to decide this fall.

The state did certify a third wolf hunt measure.

It would make moot two other wolf referendums on the November ballot.

The other issue at hand, the elections board just made the decision not to certify a voter-initiated proposal to raise Michigan’s minimum wage.

Canvassers said advocates did not have enough valid signatures to put the proposed law up for a vote.

Lawmakers in may passed a smaller wage hike raising the hourly minimum wage to $9.25 in 2018.
