Charlevoix Venetian Festival Celebrates Kids

It’s one of the busiest times of the year in Charlevoix as the community celebrates the Venetian Festival.

The festival began 84 years ago as a boat parade, lit up by candles. Each year it has evolved into something bigger.

Today was Kids Day, and Venetian festivities lined the shore of Lake Michigan beach.

Organizers say it’s a great chance for the youngest visitors to enjoy the day. That includes the Venetian games with plenty of friendly competition, along with other activities.

Mabel Carson is a volunteer at the festival, “We have pony rides bounce houses bubbles face painting and its just a great activity for the entire family.”

Events at the Venetian Festival continue through Saturday night, where there’s carnival rides, boat parades and fireworks.
