UPDATE: Gaza Bombings Continue, Killing Hundreds

International leaders are pushing to end the violence, but conflict continues in the Middle East with overnight bombings spilling over into the morning.

Black smoke filled the sky over Gaza after Israeli air strikes damaged a mosque, military sites and a football stadium.

Secretary of State John Kerry is in Cairo to try to broker a cease fire between Israel and Hamas.

A member of the Palestinian Parliament says the Israeli government is acting out against its own people.

“What happened in Gaza during the last 10 days is nothing but a massacre. 550 Palestinians have been killed so far. 150 of them are children. And we are now losing Palestinians mostly civilians at a rate of 100 per day. This has to stop,” said Mustafa Barghouti of the Palestinian Parliament.

The U.S. is sending $47 million in humanitarian aid. It will go to tens of thousands of Palestinians who have fled their homes in Gaza to escape the violence.
