Harrison High School Pitcher Raises $4500 for the Hungry
She’s a great softball pitcher and loves to help the hungry so she decided to combine the two.
Allison Lipovsky collected pledges for her Strikeouts for Hunger campaign this spring.
People pledged small amounts of money until she had raised $13.36 per strikeout.
With 339 strikeouts on the season for the Harrison Hornets, she raised more than $4,500, a purse that was split between a local food bank and a soup kitchen network in Clare County.
If you are a local pitcher that wants to join the cause or know someone who is, you can contact Allison by emailing her at firstname.lastname@example.org or find her on Facebook by searching “Strike Out for Hunger”.
9&10’s Eric Lloyd and photojournalist Melvin Kimbrough were there as she handed over the checks and have more details.
