Chrysler Recalls More Than 790K Jeeps Worldwide for Ignition Switch Problems

Chrysler has announced another recall involving over 790,000 older Jeep SUVs around the world for ignition switch problems.

The automaker says the recall covers 2005-2007 Grand Cherokees and 2006-2007 Commanders.

Chrysler says switches can be knocked out of the “run” position which will shut off the engine. This will disable power steering and braking. They also say the front air bags may not inflate either.

They say no injuries have been reported, but there has been one accident.

Owners should take care not to bump the keys in the ignition until repairs can be made.

Engineers are working on a fix.
