Woman Bikes 400 Miles To Raise Hospice Awareness

A woman is biking more than 400 miles to help those in hospice.

Dawn Spoon, a hospice nurse downstate started the Tour De Mitt in Mackinaw City on Saturday.

Her destination is Stevensville, Michigan.

On Monday, she stopped at the Munson Hospice House in Traverse City.

She toured their facility and had some refreshments before continuing south.

Her goal is to raise $10,000.

Spoon hopes to raise awareness of hospice and to provide money to care for those in hospice.

“It’s been a challenge. This is something I have never done before,” said Spoon. “This is going to be a big stretch, but it’s for a good cause and other people are doing something much harder than I am, they’re dying.”

Spoon plans on completing her tour by Saturday.
