Charlevoix hosting benefit for Keith Haske

CHARLEVOIX – Keith Haske has won a lot of games as a basketball coach at Charlevoix and St. Francis High Schools.

This month, those schools are giving back.

Haske was diagnosed with throat cancer in May.

He traveled to Houston, Texas to find the best cancer care in the nation.

Which is fitting to his personality because some of Haske’s teams were the best in Northern Michigan and beyond.

He has led boys and girls basketball teams to the State Finals while he coached at Charlevoix.

Then he took the Traverse City St. Francis boys basketball team to the State Final two years ago.

The alumni basketball game will be a 1pm tip-off at Charlevoix High School on Sunday July 27.

There will also be a silent auction and bake sale with all the proceeds going to help the family with medical bills and expenses.

Donations can be made at the event or at the Charlevoix State Bank.

There is also a Facebook page called “Coach Haske Basketball Fundraiser Event” where people have been able to post messages for Haske.
