Mt. Pleasant Youth Learning the Public Services

The kids get a day seeing what it is like to work for the police, fire, DNR or even the court system.

It’s Mt. Pleasant’s Youth Services Academy, a three week crash course for middle schoolers in government jobs.

Today, the kids got a hands on view of the fire department.

They saw the equipment needed to succeed, tested the skills they would need to develop and saw what it takes to be a Mt. Pleasant fire fighter.

The program is free for students interested in the public service fields, many will work elsewhere when grown but the spark can be seen in many of them.

9&10’s Eric Lloyd was there as the kids trained and has more details.
