UPDATE: Two Toddlers Drown in Gratiot County Backyard Pond

A Mid-Michigan funeral home has identified the two toddlers who drowned in a pond behind their home, Thursday, in Hamilton Township, Gratiot County.

The toddlers, ages two and three, were described as boys who were always together holding hands.

Owen Cross and Xander Convery-Cross, half-brothers,  who apparently wandered away form their home, were later found by deputies searching for them in the pond.

A funeral will be held for them at the Walker-Martin Funeral Home, in Chesaning, today.

Mid-Michigan sheriff’s deputies say the bodies of two toddlers were found in a pond.

The boys went missing near a home in Hamilton Township, near Ashley in Gratiot County.

They were found in a backyard pond.

Deputies have not released the names of the children, their parents, or the relationship between the boys.

Both children were pronounced dead at the scene.
