Traveling Vietnam Wall Opens in Houghton Lake

The Traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall is taken to towns all over the country for people to see a 3/5 replica of the wall in Washington DC.

This weekend the traveling tribute will be in Houghton Lake, open for 24 hours allowing friends, family, and vets to pay their respects to the 58,000 Americans lost.

One of the veterans taking in the opening ceremony was Gary Hall.

He served three years with the Navy during the war.

The reason he enlisted was after his best friend, David A Brown, was killed in action in Vietnam.

Hall knows his fellow vets may not have been welcomed home with open arms but he is grateful he made it home at all.

9&10’s Eric Lloyd and photojournalist Jacob Johnson were there for the opening ceremony and have more details.
